Instructions
Preheat the broiler. Pat the cod with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Melt the butter over medium-high heat in a 12-inch cast iron or oven-proof skillet. Add the garlic and cook, stirring constantly, for 30 seconds. Stir in the lemon juice and zest.
Place the cod filets in the pan and cook for 1 minute. Carefully turn the cod to the other side using tongs.
Place the skillet about 4-6 inches from the broiler. Broil for about 6-9 minutes or until the internal temperature of the cod reaches 145°F.
