How To Reheat General Tso Chicken

On the Stove

You’ll have much better results if you use your stovetop instead of the microwave.

  1. Heat some oil in a pan and place in your leftovers.
  2. It’s important to heat at a high temperature but keep stirring so it doesn’t burn.
  3. If you wish, add some soy sauce and extra vegetables.
  4. Let it heat for about 4-5 minutes and then your leftovers are ready to enjoy!

In the Oven

Be sure to use your oven to help preserve the original texture instead of ending up with soggy microwaved food.

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2.  Arrange your leftovers in an oven-safe dish, ensuring that they are spread out.
  3. Cover with aluminum foil, seal the edges, and then place the dish in the oven.  Reheat for about 2-10  minutes until it’s reheated completely.
  4.  During the last minute, carefully remove the foil so that your chicken is directly under the heat which will make it extra crispy.
  5. Let your food cool down for 2-3 minutes and then enjoy your General Tso’s Chicken!

In An Air Fryer

It’s totally possible to use an Air Fryer for reheating and also ridiculously easy!

  1. Preheat your Air Fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Spray your container with oil or line the basket with parchment paper.
  3.  Reduce the temperature to 380F and heat for around  4 minutes, flipping halfway.
  4. Let it cool for a minute and your chicken is as good as new!

Using A Rice Cooker

You might think that rice cookers are only meant to slow-cook rice but they actually work great when it comes to cooking and reheating many foods.

The best part is that you don’t have to worry about setting the temperature when using a rice cooker to reheat. Simply place your chicken in the rice cooker and cover with a lid. Once the chicken reaches your desired temperature, switch to the ‘keep warm’ setting and you’re done!

How To Store General Tso Chicken

First, separate the chicken from its accompanied sauce. Store the sauce in an air-tight container in the refrigerator and store the chicken separately in another air-tight container. You can either refrigerate or freeze it depending on when you plan to eat it. The sauce can be reheated in the microwave and then add it to your already reheated chicken!

Leftovers should be consumed within in 3-4 days to prevent food poisoning. If in doubt, it’s better to be safe and just dispose of them.
