This Mexican lollipop drink is sweet and slightly spicy with lots of fruity flavors. The best part? You can customize it with different flavors like watermelon, strawberry or pineapple juice!
While it may seem fancy, it’s actually super-easy to make and you only need a few ingredients. The trick is to use proper ratios and combine them in a balanced way.

What Is A Mexican Lollipop Drink?
Mexican lollipop drink is a tequila and fruit juice-based cocktail with sweet and spicy flavors.
Also called Mexican candy shot, this drink gets its name from a watermelon-flavored Mexican hard candy that is dusted with chili powder. This candy is referred to as a lollipop, a Mexican-style popsicle.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Fruit Juice: If using freshly squeezed juice, you’ll need to strain it to remove the pulp. I used guava juice, but you can use watermelon or strawberry juice.
- Tequila: Tequila is a classic alcoholic choice for this recipe. Higher alcohol content will have a stronger taste.
- Sugar: You’ll need sugar to rim the edges of the shot glasses. You can also add sugar to taste to the drink if you’d prefer a sweeter drink.
- Hot Sauce: It adds a nice heat to the drink. My favorite is Tabasco sauce.
- Lime: Optional for garnish.
- Ice cubes
Tequila storage tip: It’s best to store tequila in a cool and dry area. Once you’ve opened the bottle, you should drink it within a year.
