What Is Beef Arm Roast?

Arm roast is a popular cut of beef that’s from the beef chuck primal. It has less fat than other cuts like brisket, making it a good choice for those wanting to reduce their fat intake. Arm roast is quite economical and is best cooked low and slow. 

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • arm roast
  • onion
  • beef broth
  • balsamic vinegar
  • garlic
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • soy sauce
  • honey
  • cornstarch
  • water
  • salt and pepper

Arm roast is an economical cut of beef that’s ideal for slow cooking. It’s also known as chuck arm roast and arm pot roast.

How to Cook Arm Roast 

  • Cut arm roast into large chunks. Place the meat into a pressure cooker and sprinkle the top of the meat with salt.
  • Slice the onion and scatter on top of and around the meat. Pour in the remaining ingredients except for the cornstarch and close the lid. Seal the steam valve and set the pressure cooker to high pressure for 45 minutes.
  • Allow the steam to naturally release for 15 minutes, and then release the rest of the steam.
  • Carefully lift the lid and transfer the meat and onions to a large bowl. Set the pressure cooker to saute. 
  • In a small bowl mix together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
  • Add the slurry to the pot and continuously stir for about 3 minutes until the sauce thickens. 
  • Shred the meat with two forks. Pour the sauce on top of the meat and toss to coat well.

Easy Arm Roast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds arm roast cut into large chunks
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Remove the bone and fat from the arm roast and cut it into large chunks. Place the meat into a pressure cooker and sprinkle the top of the meat with salt.
  • Slice the onion and scatter on top of and around the meat.
  • Pour in the remaining ingredients except the cornstarch and close the lid. Seal the steam valve and set the pressure cooker to high pressure for 45 minutes.

    I think I put too much Balsamic in, beware. Tried to correct with salt/sugar. I still didn’t care for the flavor but luckly my husband loved it. Meat was very tender.
