½cupunsalted butter1 stick
1cupwhole milk
2tablespoonspowdered sugaroptional
Instructions
Place a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the butter and milk, heating until the butter is fully melted.
Remove from the heat and cool to at least room temperature.
To whip the cream, place a large mixing bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes. Pour the milk-butter mixture into the cold bowl and add the powdered sugar. Mix on full speed for about a minute until stiff peaks form.
Notes
Note that this heavy whipping cream substitute does not whip. However, you can use it in recipes that call for liquid heavy cream.
