My kids and I all love doing crafts and hands-on projects but sometimes I am just not creative to come up with things on our own. I was really excited when we were asked to review The Happy Trunk. The Happy Trunk is a subscription box service that has themed craft boxes delivered right to your door. You get to choose either the box for 3-7 year old kids or the box for 7-11 year old kids. Each box features 2-3 projects, some are arts & crafts related, some are science related.
Our box was geared for 7-11 year olds. I knew that my 10 year old daughter would like to try it out. Out kit had 3 projects for us to do: Make Your Own Mini Soap Bars, Make Fizzy Bath Balls & Grow Your Own Crystals. Everything we needed to make all 3 were included in our kit.
The first thing we made was the mini soap bars. Ashlyn helped me to melt the soap base in the microwave and then add the colorant & fragrant oil. I helped her pour the liquid into the silicone mold and we let it harden for about 15 minutes. When we popped them out, we had perfect little orange soaps!
We’re also currently growing our crystals! They take 3-4 days, so when they are done growing I will post a picture! We had a lot of fun mixing & measuring and can’t wait to see the crystals we’ve grown!
We’re looking forward to being surprised each month when our box arrives. There’s nothing better than getting a surprise in the mail and then being able to do something fun & creative with it!

I like that this Happy trunk has all the supplies needed to make an item and I like that they have trunks for older children, my granddaughter would love this and I think that they would love the anticipation of waiting for a new box to come. I believe that your review shared important information with me about this product and makes me very interested.

I love the Happy trunk!! My son has gotten 6 boxes so far– I need to switch him to the big kid box, the little one is great but he’s starting to out grow it. (6 yrs old)– the projects are fun and easy to follow. We live our monthly delivery!!

Things like this are great! I just saw on the news yesterday that creativity in kids has dropped and companies are trying to combat this. Around here, a group has started doing Creativity Can…it’s just common supplies, no instructions, and the kids make whatever they want with it. This trunk sounds like a really good way to get kids thinking and creating, and all the materials are right there. Parents don’t have to worry about not having something.

I love this idea!!! What a great way for kids to craft, than to have everything needed be in one place!! This would be a GREAT starter kit for my 2nd Grade Camp Fire group. I may just invest in this tidy little box.
Thank you for the article and the opportunity to win this great prize!

This is a great idea and great to keep kids interested in something other than video games and tv. My daughter would really enjoy it expecally making the soap.
