One of the things we’re really focusing on in our family is eating healthy. I will be the first to admit that in recent years, our eating habits haven’t been the healthiest they can be. What I saw in my kids was them choosing the bad foods over better choices time & time again, so my fiancée and I decided that we needed to not only start eating healthy for ourselves but to show good habits to our kids.

It’s important to promote health & wellness for our mind, body & soul. Boys & Girls Clubs of America does this with their Triple Play program. We all know that Boys & Girls Clubs around the world provide a safe, fun & affordable place for kids to go to after school or when school isn’t in session. They have caring, trained people that provide the kids with enriching programs and activities.

With the Triple Play Program, Boys & Girls Clubs are teaching positive health and wellness habits to kids all over the United States. Encouraging kids to eat right, keep fit and form positive relationships with themselves and others is just the start of this amazing program. The Boys & Girls Clubs believe that every child deserves a great future and want to help them achieve this through three pillars – academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. If a child is being taught this at home as well, then this is a great extension for them as they play and interact with their peers. For kids that aren’t getting this information at home, these tools can be taught to them, setting them on a terrific path for their futures.

Triple Play was started in 2005 and more than one million Club members have participated in the program since then! And as we approach the Holidays, it’s important to keep on promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for our kids. I know it’s such a busy time of year but make sure to head outside to play sports and games, fix healthy but delicious snacks & have fun playing board games as a family. It’s not always easy to fit everything in when we’re busy but helping to develop healthy habits in our kid’s lives is SO important!
