How are you watching TV this Summer? #NetflixFamilies

Our family has been big fans & customers of Netflix for many years, long before streaming came along. When we found out about streaming Netflix through our Wii (back when our Wii was brand new), we were so excited! The one thing I always worried about that was that our kids were able to access any movie or show we put into our queue. While we don’t watch horror movies or anything (because I admit, I am a MAJOR chicken!), there were still movie/shows I don’t want them seeing the cover art for, much less being able to watch any of them!

When Netflix came out with their Just For Kids section, I was thrilled! When my 5 year old wants to choose something from Netflix to watch, he can head over there and only see the shows and movies that are kids friendly. Plus, on the Just For Kids side, there are great sections that make it really easy to find something that the whole family can enjoy! Sections like Family Movie Night, TV for Curious Kids and Science & Nature (one of my families personal faves), makes it really simple to sit down as a family and watch something together. Plus, since it’s Summertime, it’s super easy to find something that the kid’s want to watch.

Streaming from Netflix has become more important than ever because we decided in January to stop paying for cable. We were tried of the high bills and having 300 channels and never being able to find anything to watch! Now, we’re watching TV because we want to and choosing shows that really interest us. My husband and I are watching White Collar, I’m watching Charmed, everyone sits around & watches older Mythbusters and so much more.

The other thing I love about Netflix is that you can use so many different devices to watch. We currently watch through the Wii, XBox 360, my husbands tablet, my phone, my 14 year old sons phone and on the 2 PlayMG’s we own. I also love that there are no commercials that we have to sit through.

Our Queue – Not bad things, just not things I want my 5 year old to have access to 🙂

Netflix streaming is just $7.99/mo – that means that a one-year subscription to Netflix costs less than taking my family of 5 twice to the movie theater (and let’s not even mention the cost of food we’d have to buy to enjoy ourselves either!)
