Mother’s Day is a day to share with our Moms (or if we’re Moms ourselves, to spend time with our kids) and show them how much they mean to use and how much they are loved. This year, MetLife has created the #SocialBlackout movement. This movement challenges everyone to log off of all social media (*gasp* right? You can do it, I promise!) on Mother’s Day (May 12th) and give Mom the time and attention she deserves! If you’re a Mom, this would mean YOU getting the time that you deserve too!
Our family usually lays low for Mother’s Day (add in Father’s Day & Valentine’s Day to that too). Not because we don’t want to celebrate but because we don’t enjoy battling huge crowds just to go out to eat. We’ll usually choose a small out of the way place or we “cheat” and go out on Saturday.
So, how about you put away the phones, the tablets, the laptops, those keyboards…for just one day. One day to give your undivided attention to your Mom or kids and show them how much they mean to you. You can find out even more about MetLife’s #SocialBlackout event on Facebook. While you’re there, you can RSVP for the event, grab the the official #SocialBlackout image for your profile picture (shown above), update your status with a warm Mother’s Day wish and come midnight on May 11th, say “See ya on Monday!” to all social media. Mom (and you!) are worth it!

SUCH a great idea! Except: since I am on the other side of the world from my Mom on Mothers’ Day, the only way I’ll get to see her and talk to her is with Skype, so in my case technology is a blessing for Mothers’ Day.
Well, in that case, you are definitely right 🙂
I better not be blacked out – my oldest son lives out of state and I need to be connected via Skype on Mother’s Day to have a nice chat and see the grand kids.
I love it!Just like a vacation.
I’m the Mom – I will really try to shut down this computer to spend time with my family. It is going to be hard but the one think I love more than my computer is my family.
i love my mother
i think this is awesome! people are way too plugged in most of the time.this will be a good way for families to just hang out together and talk to each other.
