As a child growing up, there were many California amusement parks to choose from when we wanted to head somewhere as a family but some of my best memories were of us visiting Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA. While there is another bigger, more famous amusement park also close to us, Knott’s Berry Farm has always been a family favorite. My kids now ask every year to go there for their birthdays.
Knott’s Berry Farm is famous for their Knott’s Scary Farm event around Halloween, which is NOT for the faint of heart. Teenage me used to go & be scared inside but act tough. 36-year-old me says “Not happening!” But not to leave out the kids (or chickens like me), Knott’s also has something super fun (and not scary!) every weekend in October. Knott’s Berry Farm Camp Spooky is a daytime, non-scare celebration (think “cheer” more than “fear”) featuring shows, activities and trick-or-treating, all aimed for kids 3-11 years old! That’s right…you can wear a costume to Camp Spooky and take part in “Snoopy’s Costume Contest” where kids will be joined by friendly monsters and of course, the PEANUTS characters.
Ready for a show? “Charlie Brown’s Spooktacular Show” will be taking place in the Camp Spooky Theatre. This show will feature singing & dancing to some great Halloween songs! In the “Monster Factory”, kids of all ages can explore a fun interactive maze. Park naturalists will share slithery, slimy, creepy, crawly critters with us all (I may have to sit out for that one too!) at the “Creepy Crawly Critter Cave”.
Love ghost stories? The whole family will enjoy story tellers telling the creepiest, craziest, silliest stories at “Scary Stories at the Lodge”. For a small additional fee, you can decorate cookies at the “Kooky Cookie Painting” station!
Camp Spooky will be running every weekend from October 5-27 and included with your regular park admission. Knott’s Berry Farm is open from 10am to 5:30pm. Want to order tickets or find out more info? Visit www.knotts.com or call (714) 220-5200. I can’t wait to take my kids and enjoy this fun, not-scary event!

I wish I lived close by and could take the grandkids but alas we live on the East Coast!!
Awwww, that’s a bummer Maria! I’ve always wanted to visit the East Coast though 🙂
I love Knott’s Berry Farm but haven’t been in years. This post brought up a lot of great memories!
It’s still so much fun, Stefanie! So many great memories there 🙂
