Essential oils are terrific. It amazes me that each oil has so many benefits, and that combining oils can help increase those benefits. As parents and adults, life can be pretty stressful! Use these essential oils to help with anger, anxiety, and depression.
Bergamot
- Bergamot essential oil is a known antidepressant that also helps with digestion. It smells sweet, like citrus, because the oil is created from the rinds of the tropical bergamot plant.
- Use bergamot to sooth your nerves: it helps with anger, anxiety, depression, stress, and even panic attacks. Its alming properties are perfect for a massage oil.
- Store bergamot in a dark bottle, in a dark space. It blends well with clary sage, jasmine, blak pepper, sandalwood, rosemary, vetiver, and ylang-ylang.
Chamomile
- Chamomile essential oil is extracted from chamomile flowers; there are two different types of chamomile. Roman Chamomile and German Chamomile. While both are somewhat similar, they do serve different purposes. Roman Chamomile oil is calming, while German Chamomile oil is more of an anti-inflammatory. Both work well for different things.
- Chamomile is so awesome! You just have to smell it to start feeling better. It’s a natural antidepressant and can help improve your mood drastically. It also works well mixed into a hand lotion, for an all day calming effect.
Jasmine
- Jasmine essential oil is extracted from jasmine flowers, and is an antidepressant that is most known for its calming effect. Its strong yet sweet fragrance is used in many perfumes, as jasmine is often associated with love. This essential oil is a natural sleep aid, and is also used in the treatment of eczema. Use it as a massage oil before bed, or add a few drops to your bath water. Your stress will melt away in no time!
Ylang Ylang
- Ylang ylang‘s delicate fragrance makes it great for meditation and calming. Ylang ylang is an antiseptic as well as an aphrodisiac, and wasn’t really popular until the 2000s when cosmetic products started advertising that they were using this essential oil.
- Extracted by steam distillation of fresh flowers of the ylang ylang tree, it’s been used as a natural antidepressant for years. Giving many feelings of joy and hope, it has earned its reputation!
Lavender
- Lavender essential oil is known to be a sleep aid, and mixes well with other oils which makes it extremely versatile. Whether you’re blending it with cedarwood, chamomile, clove, eucalyptus, bergamot, vetiver, or thyme, you’re sure to create a mixture that will ease your mind. Lavender is known of one of the safest essential oils.
- Its clean smell helps to eliminate tension, and relieve pain. It also enhances blood circulation and helps treat acne. I think lavender is probably one of the most used oils because it has so many benefits.
Other essential oils that help relieve stress and anxiety include: basil, cedarwood, rosemary, thyme, rose, mandarin, peppermint, clary sage, frankincense, and juniper.
